In the amplified version, John 1:16 reads “For out of His abundance we have ALL received one grace upon grace and spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing and even favor upon favor and gift [heaped] upon gift.” WOW!!! John 1 is all about the sovereignty of Christ and the intimate personable Christ who came to earth and dwelt among us as the Word personified. Incredible verses… God is all powerful, eternal… But also desires to BE with us – to live with us – empower US with all that He is… I love ‘Grace upon Grace'… You don't just get a little, or just enough… but in line with the very nature of Christ, there is an abundance of Grace flowing over your life. Not a responsibility-shirking grace – an empowering, forgiving, overcoming grace… upon grace… upon grace.
