The car salesman that sold us our car was a genius. I stopped at his yard and enquired on the car which is now ours. It was late in the afternoon and he suggested I take it home for the night. It looked nice in our driveway and was a perfect opportunity to find out that this car suited our needs. Of course we bought it.
We often expect a demo of a product or service before we commit…thankfully God knows us well enough and is gracious enough that He provides us with one. Imagine if His mindset was to wait until we committed to Him to show us His plan for redemption and reconciliation.
The essence of the verse before this is that a person would rarely lay down their life for someone good, yet Jesus laid down His life while we were sinners! It quantifies and reveals God's incredible generosity and His faith in us long before we ever have faith in Him. Imagine living like this. Can you envisage yourself being nice to someone who doesn't deserve it? Can you imagine loving someone long before they ever return it to you? It's a pretty epic thought when you start to think on it.
But we needed a demonstration of God's love before we ever came to Him. Often that demonstration was through someone else who'd experienced the life transforming power of it for themselves…and you are (and will be) the demonstration of God's love for others who still don't know and don't understand…yet! The challenge is to live in faith and give with generosity the way God does.
He sees potential and invests long before it's ever revealed in us. Today, I challenge you to start yielding returns of the potential God invested in you to see. Be a demonstrator of His love to those who who still don't get it…show them the demo long enough and they will…praying His love over you today!
