But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 1 Cor 1:27 (NIV)

Don’t ever undervalue or underestimate your weakness. God doesn’t. If He can turn dust into a man and words into a universe, He can certainly take what the rest of the world calls “failures” and turn them into successes! In Hebrew culture every child was trained up to be a Rabbi. When they were of certain age they were taken to the Temple where they were tested. If they passed they went onto become respected Rabbi’s within their communities. If they failed they were relegated to work in their dad’s business. Fisherman, carpenters, farmers etc. When Jesus came to Peter and Andrew fishing in their boats and said “Follow me” He was saying “even though you’re rejected by others you can still be used by God”. It was a powerful cultural and political statement that defied every other tradition.

It’s just like God to break the tradition of man… especially when it devalues what He calls valuable! Today, don’t allow your past failures, hurts and disqualifications to hold you back from the call of God! He chooses the weak things of this world to shame the strong. That’s how we can be sure God really is behind our successes! Have the best day…
