Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” – Matthew 4:19 (NKJV)
The two basic emotional needs of a human is acceptance and significance. These needs fuel the desire for most people to want to lead; to be the leader; to have followers. To have and exert influence. 1. If your leadership in life is propelled by the need to have acceptance and significance from other people: BEWARE! It's a trap that will leave you and your followers unfulfilled. It's a short sustaining fuel too, much like fast food is to our bodies and in the end causes more damage than good. The truth is our fellow humans will never give us the acceptance and significance that truly fulfils us. Only Jesus can do that…which leads to point 2. In order to be good at leading you have to be exceptional at following. To recognise and be empowered by the God-ordained leadership over your life. “God-ordained” means the person that is GIVEN authority over you NOT the person you WANT to have authority over you. A policeman is a good example of this. Most struggle with the authority they have been given because they don't like it! But obeying it and submitting to it is the right and Godly thing to do. It actually empowers our ability to lead in life. When you follow Jesus…like really give your life to follow Him, you will get the kind of leadership that will empower and shape your life for eternal purposes. It'll also put you in an emotionally healthy stead to lead people right and well! Today honour and respect the authority over your life and decide to lead people from a healthy place…not to fulfil your needs…but theirs! After all Jesus didn't come to be served but to serve! Bless you guys…have the best day!
