We wanted to share Phil 4:8 with you today, it says “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” I love the words ‘fix your thoughts’. Unbridled, our mind wanders wherever it will… Thoughts are often triggered by what we hear on TV, what we’re reading, things we hear people say, what we see on billboards… and they can run wild if we don’t keep watch over them. That’s why Paul says ‘fix your thoughts’… He’s telling us we need to direct the traffic in our minds. Thoughts that are destructive, untrue, sinful etc… when they come in to your mind, evict them straight away. Make sure the thoughts you fix on are what Paul describes in Phil 4:8. Thoughts are a preemptive power… Where your thoughts linger often determines the paths we walk down in life. It’s hard work to keep it clean, but the results of having a healthy thought life, empowers your physical life no end. Replace negative thoughts about yourself and others, thoughts of a sinful nature, thoughts that are untrue, thoughts that are destructive to your walk with God – with noble, pure, just, lovely, honorable, virtuous, gracious thoughts.
