Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. Isaiah 41:10 (NLT)

Fear. Most of us live with it, day-in and day-out, directing our decisions, relationships and ultimately our lives.

Fear was injected into this world at that crucial moment in the Garden of Eden when Adam ate from the fruit. His first response, after realising what he had done, was to hide from God. He said to God “I heard you walking in the garden, so I hid. I was afraid because I was naked.” (Gen 3:10)

Before this moment Adam and Eve just hung out in the garden, chilling and relaxing in the peace of God. In full relationship with Him. But it was the fruit, which introduced fear, and ultimately sin, that separated them from God.

Fast forward to the present time and we have a world infected and motivated by fear. Relationships, marketing, identity, jobs and schooling.

The basic form of motivation in school is fear. Fear of failing, flunking out, not fitting in, missing out on a great college place and a secure career. And school really sets us up for the work place – you better fit in, turn up on time, get all this done or you’ll get fired. If you get fired how will you pay the mortgage? If you can’t pay the mortgage how will your family survive?

So most people stay in a job they dislike out of fear that they won’t be able to provide. We fit in – fit into a system of fear. But God is not afraid. When Adam sinned, the Bible says He walked “cooly” through the garden. He’s not afraid of your future or what may happen. He sees the beginning from the end. He is the Alpha and Omega. And He is with you.

Don’t quit your job (unless God REALLY speaks to you about it) BUT walk with God like Adam and Eve did in the garden, before the fall. Stress free and at peace that God is in control. Jesus is, after all, our Prince of Peace. God bless you guys… Let’s continue this one tomorrow…
