The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lam 3:22-23
The concept of something never running out is not one that we can easily take hold of. I think children in their innocence grasp this concept better than any of us… I used to believe that my parents had an endless supply of money – they just had to keep putting that card in the wall and presto – money! I used to think that water was created somewhere underneath all our taps… it was endless, if we left the taps on the water would always keep coming… and food, I thought food was everywhere, easy to grow, easy to get, very easy to eat. But as we realise the reality of life, this concept of endlessness becomes a distant and even non existent reality – time gets quicker, we run short on cash, we understand the food and water shortages around the world… what were endless days and summers turn into fleeting moments and short seasons. But despite that, we need to foster and keep alive the wonder and belief in the endless love, grace and mercy of God. Unlike anything else in and upon the earth, they never run short, run out or run dry. Steadfast love, endless mercy, unshakeable faithfulness.
Don't apply the worlds lessons to what you know of God, but rather apply His promises, wisdom and lessons to your world. Just because things run out in our world, doesn't mean that the promises, hopes and love of God ever will. His love and mercy is eternal – they will outlast this world and carry you into the next. Every morning, wake up with the wonder of His endlessness.
