From the sunrise in the east to the sunset in the west, may the name of the Lord be praised! Ps 113:3 (NIRV)

Ps 113 is such an expressive song, and an outpouring of praise from a heart filled with revelation to a grand and majestic God.

Verse 4-6 in The Message says “The Lord is honored over all of the nations. His glory reaches to the highest heavens. Who is like the Lord our God? He sits on his throne in heaven. He bends down to look at the heavens and the earth.”

God is expansive, large and all encompassing. There is not an inch of the world that escapes His gaze of grace and looks of love… He is above all. Not in a judgemental “I can see you” way, but in a “There’s no need to hide, I can see you, I see into you heart…” way. His glory – His radiance and the reach of His light – stretches over, weaves into and leaks upon all the earth and into the farthest corners of the heavens.

He, and the essence of who He is (God is love – 1 John 4:8), is all around us.

When you wake in the morning and see the sunrise in the eastern skies, see also His love rising on you, shining light into the world and bringing warmth to your heart. And as the sun sets in the west and closes another day in the beauty and mysteriousness of twilight, choose to see His grace covering your life in the soft gold and navy tones of possibilities and hope.

God does not relate to one group or type of people more than another. Just as the sun rises on every tribe and nation, so does God see and love us ALL. Just as no one is exempt from the rising and the setting of the sun, no one is exempt from the reach of God’s love and salvation. He is transcendent. He reaches through culture, language and tradition – He is present everywhere and waits for everyone to awaken to His grace.

Let your praise and thanks to God ring out across your day. Let it rise with the sun and sustain your night seasons. Join in the chorus that can be heard on winds across the earth that sing of the greatness, wonder and salvation of God.
