Sometimes it's convenient to keep our sins of the past close at hand. See when they're at arms length it's easy to reach over for them when we need to justify why bad things happen, when they happen to us. It helps us rationalise our negative self-worth and why we don't ‘deserve better'. You may even use it to justify sickness or a life-threatening disease that has debilitated your body. If you think like this then the enemy has TRICKED YOU! He's deceived you into a lie about God and His Word that is absolutely wrong! The enemy uses guilt and shame to cage us and keep us small. He uses our past to limit our future…to water down the God potential that's within us! That's why we have to know the Word, so that we can shake off the enemies lies about us and walk confidently in the freedom Jesus has purchased us! When you're looking east you have your back turned to the west and when God looks at you, through Jesus, he has His back to every sin that would separate you from Him.
