THE LORD’S PRAYER – PART 4

All my life I have been taught about the will of God.

As a tween I was taught that I am expendable to God: If I don’t fulfil His will, I’ll miss my destiny, and someone else will take my place in the Kingdom, leaving me kicked off the team sitting in the gutter.

I was also told that ‘God will want to send me to places and get me to do things that I will not want to do, but I am to embrace these challenges and tests as they are the will of God for my life and will bring Him glory and lead my spirit down the path of “less of me, more of Jesus”, all for Gods glory'.

I started to believe that Gods will for me was something I would struggle with, hate doing, and only just make it through by the skin of my teeth. And in the end, who cares if I was a hollow shell of a person, as long as God is glorified.

Does that sound like the abundant living Jesus talks about in John 10:10? Or the future and hope spoken of in Jer 29:11?

God loves to shine His glory by enabling us to live beautifully selfless lives where we give of our gifts and talents, and through them express His love to the earth.

When God was knitting us together in our mother’s wombs, He was also weaving His purpose for our lives into our personalities, the things we’re naturally good at, and our different tastes and styles. We were all born on purpose for purpose, and God uses us – our unique selves – to express a part of His wonder and love to the world in a way that only we can.

When you divinely collided with Jesus, God began to bring an expression of heaven to earth through you. His design and purpose for your life (His will) that still beats within the heart of God the Father is being lived out here on earth through you, with the empowerment and backing of all of heaven. Following God’s will for your life is not a funeral for your hopes and dreams, but a heavenly empowerment and fulfilment of your true self.
