“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you…” – James 4:8 (NKJV)
Yesterday we discussed how we're all intrinsically wired for worship and how who and what we worship is our choice. I say this often, but God has created you in His image and part of that imagery is creative choice! You and I are free to do with our choice, completely as we please! Look around in society and you can see that some people take the freedom of their choice (the gift God gave them) and cause pain & destruction, hurting others and themselves. But God calls us higher. He doesn't force us or manipulate us but He has a perfect destiny for each person which can only be attained by our choosing. It means taking that gift of choice and using it to choose Him. “…whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.” – Matt 10:39 – Sin nature, which we all inherit through the fall, is the opposite and is steeped in self focus. It says “me and my desires first”. It's taking our gift of choice and gearing it toward our own desires, no matter the cost to anyone else. And the only way out of “sin nature” is…a choice! Rom 10:9 says “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Today you have many options that will pull you in many different directions. Make the choice to draw closer to Him and watch Him draw you into His love. It's an incredibly powerful and fulfilling way to live!
