To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted. Titus 1:15 (NIV)
Yesterday we talked about how the “pure will see God” and that purity of heart is really about setting aside your pride and allowing God to be part of your life… to be your “tow truck” so-to-speak. One of the biggest hindrances for someone who doesn't believe in God is the fact that they believe they can do it on their own. They don't need a Saviour. There is no God and the world was created with some cosmic, carbon-explosive accident. Their common retort is “you Christians need a crutch”… and they are WRONG! Everyone needs a crutch! We're a broken and fallible species, corrupted by the infection of sin. Most people squirm when they hear this as they think that sin means they're a bad person. You wouldn't call a person with cancer a bad person. You'd call them sick and in need of a doctor. Guess what the human disease of sin means? It means we're sick and in need of a doctor! Doctor Jesus! Why do you think the Psalmist writes in chapter 103:3 “He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases”… When someone refuses to believe in God they only need time and a good example. They don't need pushing! If you're always there for them and give them room to figure out that life is impossible without God, they'll come to Him. Pride comes before a fall. God opposes the proud and gives grace to the humble. The Prodigal son had to eat pig food before he came to his senses. Don't fight or argue or shove the Bible down their throats. Just love 'em. They'll come… Blessings team… we love you!
