Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. Heb 10:23 (NKJV)

What’s your confession? What kind of story of hope and faith is your life telling?

Some of us confess beauty, growth and opportunity, while others profess negativity and despair… And most of us confess a whole lot of different stuff, good and bad, without even thinking… What we confess tells the story of what we have faith for.

Heb 11:1 says, “Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.”

Faith is our confident expectation of hope, it assures us of good things that haven’t happened yet.

It can feel awkward and assuming to talk about something that is not yet reality. That’s why so many of us don’t even dare to whisper our dreams… What if they don’t happen? What if they sound silly and misguided?

Fear holds us back and silences the confession of our faith and hope, and stunts its growth.

This is especially true when what we hope and have faith for is solely about what we will do and achieve.

“What if I don’t up end up doing that, or living there, or having this…” We often think our significance rides on the actualisation of dreams, of achieving and doing.

You will do great things… God has a purpose for you.

But His purpose is born of love and resides in the heart. It’s more about being kind, having patience, being determined, never giving up, being self-controlled, joy, peace, gentleness… the fruits of the spirit.

When you have faith and hope that no matter what happens, you can keep on going, then you will.
When you have faith and hope that you can be patient until God brings along the reality of your dreams, you will.
When you have faith and hope that weeping may endure for the night, but joy will rise over you with the new-day sunrise, it will…

As I live through this crazy, messy, beautiful life, I’m discovering that things barely work out the way I plan… And my confession of faith is becoming more about the faithfulness of God, than what I will do and where I end up.

Hold fast to your confession of faith and hope that WHO you are matters, then you will DO things that matter. He who promised you these things is faithful…
