For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. Phil 4:13 (NLT)

PHILIPPIANS 4 SERIES – PART 8

The quintessential verse, this one is a favourite of many! Put it into context of the last few verses and you discover that this too is also part of Paul’s secret to living.

Doing the best he can and letting God make up the shortfall.

So what exactly is doing everything with the strength of Christ? Does that mean giving up doing anything and waiting for Jesus to bring the opportunity and provision for absolutely everything? If so then I would’ve layed in bed this morning and waited for Him to give me an opportunity! And if it doesn’t come to me I would have to stay there all day, right?

Maybe not… It’s actually allowing Christ to be the core value of everything you do. It's taking action, every day, and then allowing His voice and Spirit to guide you. It’s like this: we start the motor (get moving) and He steers the boat (gives direction). So when generosity is hard because you have little or when a friend betrays you, you ask yourself “what does the spirit of Christ say to me in this situation?” You might feel helpless but never forget you have a helper… Relying on His strength is doing the best you can with the motivation of His Good News and then letting Him make up the shortfall when you can no longer give, or walk, or handle anymore. His grace is sufficient for you and that actually means you are empowered and strengthened!

That’s what doing all things in His strength is; relying on His direction and grace!

Today, live motivated by the Good News and live directed by His voice. This is the strongest way to live… because it’s empowered by His strength!

We love and believe in you today! Make today awesome…
