Matthew 5:3 “You're blessed when you're at the end of your rope. With less of you there is more of God and his rule.” Most people don't consider themselves blessed when they feel like they're at the end of their rope, hit rock bottom, maxed their limit. I have struggled to see myself as blessed in that place confinement and limitation. We equate blessing with abundance, and usually we see that in terms of abundant positive accumulations eg, receiving money, having an abundance of happiness, friends, great times… This scripture in the NKJ version reads “blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven”. Blessing is the revealing of goods goodness to us. And there are many parts/stages/attributes of His goodness that are richest in hard times. We can never know Christ as a provider unless we are in lack, we will never know Him as healer unless we have been sick, we never truly know His strength unless we have times of weakness. You're blessed when you're in need, truly blessed – it's in moments of our need that we see and get to know Jesus in a way we never do in good times. So if you're at the end of your rope today, whatever that looks like, lean into Jesus. Expect his goodness and remind yourself that you are blessed – you are about to see the Lord be mighty on your behalf. What a beautiful sight. Love you guys. X
