Ephesians 4:2 “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.”

There is probably no greater challenge in life than to ‘be completely humble'. LOL! In our day to day interactions, it can be so easy to treat people from a ‘me' point of view. If I'm in a good mood, then people get treated well by me… if I'm in a bad mood, then that is outworked also. If a person can help me, make me feel good, has something I need… Then they'll get my attention and graces. This sounds sinister, but it is something we so naturally fall into when just going about our day to day activities. Paul is teaching us here how to interact with one another… Be humble, be gentle, be patient… WOW – those three things could really change the way we treat others. To me, one of the greatest ways we activate this in our interactions is to listen… Listen to the cashier talk about her 3yr old daughter she's left with the neighbour while she works to put food on the table… Listen to the friend whose trying to make a major life decision… Listen to your children when they're telling you about their day… I read a great quote today from David Augsburger “Being heard is so close to being loved that for the average person, they are almost indistinguishable”… Today, life may be crazy busy, your list may be a mile long, or you could be totally exhausted – but in the midst of it all, just listen… with all humility, gentleness, and patience… It will change someone's world, and I dare say yours too… Much love.
