“Be” Series – Part 7 – Be Generous
Generosity is more for our sake than any other person. It's a hard one to tackle in our attitudes because the mindset of gathering to oneself is so ingrained into our culture. Greater than that it's the residue of our condition, the fallen condition. Sin, by its very nature, is ‘me first' in its default position. Generosity is actually a beautiful and powerful combatant for this state. Paul speaking to the Philippians in Chapter 4 says “…not that I seek the gift but the fruit that would abound to your account…”. He knew that there is much blessing in being a blessing and he knew that we need to know and experience the blessing of generosity. Generosity does some drastic surgery on your inner-man. It rewires you to desire to make a difference and turns the loose bonds of connection with others, into broad and spacious freeways.
We are all connected, and by being generous with your time, money, attitude, love, words, and actions you make an investment in your own account. They say that if all the finances on earth got divvied up evenly to every person, within 5 years it'd be back in the hands of the wealthy! Why? Because they've mastered the art of managing finances. In the same way, we have to master the art of generosity. It will teach us that we can be confident, no matter what comes against us, that God is on our side and is always for us. He does provide! Today choose to BE GENEROUS, it'll transform you from the inside out and ultimately bring blessing back to you. Blessings.
