“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” – Rom 8:28
God does and will work everything for good. It's in His nature. At the start of Chapter 8 Paul encourages the Romans that there is “…no condemnation in Christ Jesus” which is fitting to clear up before this verse. The common secular misconception about God and His nature is that He sits on His throne looking for who to judge. Desperate to condemn and smite humanity. While most of us understand this is NOT the case, we still allow condemnation to creep in and rule us causing us to pull back from God. This is a natural response for us as humans. It comes from our discipline mentality (which I'm not saying is bad) – do bad; get smacked. We carry this into our adult life in our work places. Make a mistake; get a warning. Get too many warnings and then you get fired! This fosters a “works” mentality where we find our identity in what we “do”…good and bad. But God doesn't look at me and say “Wow! Jesse's a good person…I like him…and I think I'll bless him”…He only sees Christ in me. What I've done has no weight but what Jesus has done changes everything! Today, your past (read your works) DOES NOT equal your future but through Christ, God has worked all things for good…for those that love Him. So just love Him. Declare war on the enemy today in Jesus Name and have the best day!
