We’ve been talking about prayer these last few days; how it's more than requests and words. Prayer is awareness and connection with the Divine; it's a constant state of openness to the heart of God. Flow and relationship and surrender.

I wonder where you most feel connected with God? Or is there something that you do that resonates so deeply within you that it brings life and joy? That’s prayer.

And of course, it does include words. Longings, heartaches, joys, wisdom… it's all part of prayer. What are you praying for you today? What do you need in your life?

Take a moment and think about the things that fill your heart and mind. And while in this place, increase your awareness to include God. In this space where you share your life, not just words, with him, he hears your life, your cries, your joys and worries.

Will your prayer be answered?

I’m not sure that's the right question…

People I’ve prayed for have died; situations I prayed would be stopped kept going; wisdom I’ve sought through prayer hasn’t dropped out of the sky; heartaches I’ve surrendered to God have reappeared the next morning. Prayer isn’t dualistic – it's not yes or no. It’s the intimate connection of our humanness and his divinity. In this sacred place, his hope comes alive and walks us through whatever “answer” or direction our lives play out after our prayers have been “said.”

He hears our lives, and he speaks to them. He answers us with his presence, in which dwells all kinds of possibilities. If only we would watch and listen for it.

And now we have run into his heart to hide ourselves in his faithfulness. This is where we find his strength and comfort, for he empowers us to seize what has already been established ahead of time—an unshakeable hope! We have this certain hope like a strong, unbreakable anchor holding our souls to God himself. Our anchor of hope is fastened to the mercy seat which sits in the heavenly realm beyond the sacred threshold, and where Jesus, our Forerunner, has gone in before us. He is now and forever our Royal Priest like Melchizedek.Hebrews 6:18-19, The Passion Translation.
