So we are convinced that every detail of our lives is continually woven together to fit into God’s perfect plan of bringing good into our lives, for we are his lovers who have been called to fulfill his designed purpose. Romans 8:28 (TPT)
Hearts Alive and Awake – Part 7
Go to PART 1 | PART 2 | PART 3 | PART 4 | PART 5 | PART 6
Have you noticed over this series that there have been no 7 steps to reaching your destiny? No magic formula for figuring out what your purpose is? No prayer or promise to ensure that things won’t change along the way? Destiny, as you well know, doesn’t quite work like that. You don't find God’s plan for your life like you find a long lost favourite pen – “Oh, there it is, at the back of my drawer…”
Vocation/destiny/calling/purpose – it’s all a mystery. There’s no one way to go about living your life and fulfilling your calling. There’s no ‘set and forget” to it, no switch that you can flick to turn it on and keep it on.
It often seems like when we are onto “something good” or we feel like we’re in our “sweet spot”, BAM! Life happens! And we find ourselves in a place where we need to re-evaluate, start again, change paths, include someone new, say goodbye to someone we loved.
Life is horrifically short. A vapour. A breath. And you get just one. So don’t waste time trying to figure it out, DIVE RIGHT IN!
Proverbs 16:9 says, “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”
Whatever you do, do it with God. Your heart coupled with his direction. Step out in faith, but for goodness sake, STEP OUT. Don’t hang back in fear. Get going. Start living. Dream, hope and believe. Live like you KNOW that what God has put within you will carry his love throughout a world starved for it.
God’s plan is less about what we do and but more focused on who we become; it's more about letting him work through us and the gifts he’s given us, fulfilling our hearts and making a difference beyond ourselves all at the same time.
For years (and still today) the fear of making the wrong choice about what to do with my life paralysed me. Should I go to law school? Drama school? Bible college? Should I marry him? Should we live here? Or there? Should I take that job? Should I say yes or no? Go left or right?… HOW DO YOU FIGURE OUT THE RIGHT ANSWERS IN LIFE?
The good news is that I’m not sure there are many ‘right answers’ about what we should do. And that IS good news – the right answers have more to do with our hearts than our hands: to trust, to love, have faith and hope. WHO are you becoming?
Hold onto God with all you have. Not your constructs of Him or who the world tells you He is, but what you know by faith in your spirit, and the fire in your bones.
Don’t let fear paralyse you, after all, “We can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good.” – Romans 8:28.
And that is His plan: restore, redeem, overcome, heal, bring hope, love, put back together, build up, open blind ears, unblock deaf ears, awaken hearts and spirits to his love and expanse of energy. To bring good out of chaos. To be the good IN chaos. Peace in the storm. Hope in defeat. Life in the midst of death.
Don’t hold back. Love your life, love God and love others with it… He will work out the details with you as you go.
Have fun, be hopeful, make it meaningful.

Love your devotions and pictures!
This really spoke to me today.
In the words of the Serenity Prayer: It’s about “living one day at a time, enjoying one moment at a time, taking this world as it is not as I would have it…” Encourages me to live this day to the fullest! Thank you!
